Shanghai's and
maybe Chinas most famous shopping mile is Nanjing Road.
If you cant find it there you wont find it anywhere,
sounds like New York - New York ? It's true and you also can
be sure that against this stretch of consumer temples even Fifth Avenue etc.
look a little bit small the only thing the later is more
superior is, they speak some English and are a order of
magnitude more expensive.
Stretching 5 kilometers from
the Huangpu River all the way up to the junction of
Jingan
Temple and Yan'an West Street. Nanjing Road is a passage
through the city’s center. About 700 stores line the road, the
city’s largest department store and all kind of other shops,
just name it. Nanjing Road is really
a great place, even if you only have a window
shopping walk in the evening.
Nanjing Road was
central in the British Concession during the
International Settlement.
All the imported goods were available there, so Shanghai got Nanjing road, its number one shopping destination.
