Shanghai nightlife, nightclub & bars
|
|
|
There is a wide
spectrum of entertainment, nightclubs, bars, lounges and
karaoke shops are in
almost every bigger hotel and to get the pleasure reach new
heights a local massage usually the special ones for the
guys wont hurt. |
|
|
They do a profitable
job and they come from all over the country trying to make quick cash in a hotel bar,
nightclub, massage or barber shop.
All kind of mouth watering holes
try to give you a break and it's not only water you can get.
Everything you can imagine to make you happy is sold here.
The city
is closely linked with
nightlife, in the 1930's countless opium and gambling dens,
brothels and sex bars generated a vibrant atmosphere in the
night. In1949 the Communists took over and tried to
|
|
establish law and order.
Slums had to disappear, the junkies had to learn to life without the drugs. The life
of many became somehow dull. But nothing last forever -in
particular communists-, |

Nanjing Road
and great colors at
Shanghai nightlife |
Today it's more attractive than ever.
Mr.
Deng Xiao Ping made it possible when he implemented in 1992 the new
economic reforms which gave the real push forwards for
this
business. Countless
upstart restaurants, bars and crossover
populate the different quarters. Thai, Mexican, French, Italian, Spanish and
many other food is offered in partly quite
expensive setting.
If you stay in one of the bigger
hotels with a night club you can be sure a companion waits
for you, if you like,

but also for sure its pure
money business, whatever is been told and
done and this is not negotiable once the
price has been fixed, it much more tough
than
Bangkok nightlife.
Lots of night
action with ladies and gambling is going on
in invisible member clubs, there is plenty
of money in town and that has to be shown
and play with.
Now the question is where to go?
browse the places where a hot
night is waiting, not only bar girls and crossover, chic
clubs and discos, restaurants and a bar with a theme such as
color lighting, pubs and lounges everything is around.
This is the epicenter, from a small fishing
town to today’s largest city in the country its been a long
and colorful way.
Most busy places are Bund
and the streets branching off plus the “walking
street” part of
Nanjing Road and more.
That’s virtually “where the music plays”, there are all varieties
and facet of entertainment. Although it is officially
forbidden there is a veritable gay scene with some hot stuff
as you can see here. |

Check
Hengshan Road,
Maoming South with Judys far too,
Babyface, M factory and dozens more. It’s also a good area
to have a look for the ladies, they are plenty and some
of the oldest pubs are around.
Since closing hours are rather flexible, actually
some places never close to drink the night through
is no problem and when it is
enough take a lady with you home, they like it, you like it,
it’s a win win situation but naturally it cost some money
but what means money to a big spender in a Shanghai
nightclub?
Tongren Street is more or less the same with some exceptions
but also ladies everywhere have a look at
Blue Frog Bar,
Blue Angel, Woodstock and another here and
there. |

Maybe the best strip is Hengshan
road,
a great
place, maybe the best in the city with myriads of
drinking places, lounges and more, have a look at
Narcissus Hello there Bar, Zapata’s etc. it is not possible
to name all of the beer station since they simply are to
many.
Just take a taxi and have a look around, but arrange with
the concierge that he will tell the taxi driver, most of this
guys don’t speak any other language

fashionable, stylish

more expensive than
the other, but its affordable. There are plenty of
fashionable chic clubs and the hipsters hang out to
show what they have, among many other are KABB,
Soho Pub etc. There is a trend to bigger crossover
places where everything related is under one roof.
This is
somehow a nightlife fashion also visible at other
places where Chinese people are, such as
Penang Georgetown
Malaysia, at
Kuala Lumpur and
Singapore, all is
more dense to offer the guests a much wider choice
of services. Crossover places where a
restaurant is run like a bar are plenty. |
Massage or
visiting one of the special barber shops
is popular with guys
and everyone can imagine what's going on in
this massage parlors.

Bars and clubs |
|
come in
different variants and are often just a
front end for the real thing behind. This is
one of China's top destinations and as such
there is a great range of nightclubs.
Although
it's is not
on the same level as
Bangkok, it
wont mean you won't be able to find
someone to have fun, maybe with ladies at a nightclub, discos and entertainment are just depending on how big
is your wallet. A gay scene is not visible, if you
want this direction talk with the hotel bell
man and he will handle this with the taxi
driver to bring you to the right place,
don't be shy. The "butterflies" are very
lively |

At a Shanghai
nightclub
you might get a lot of fun or maybe not,
its a matter of money like everywhere, money rules and nothing else. Plenty of
ladies are very attractive and also very materialistic minded.
There are
countless places with girls, but
its usually nice, so what ? This is very
colorful, beside of the
above mentioned nightlife scene
are other things to do.
What about to
listen to a concert of the
Philharmonic Society,
maybe having a look for
the
Acrobatic Troup or
the
Yueju Opera Group.
There are dace halls,
discotheques and bars
full with pretty girls,
many of the
entertainment venues
have life music with
singers and bands. In
the city many
international cultural
and art festivals are
celebrated. |
|
All this is nothing new,
its just repeating itself since
the opening after the hardliner communists got the slip.
Similar but more contemporary night entertainment spots
reemerged in different localities and new decoration plus
new techniques, in the 19. century until the 193x no
multimedia, and electronics were available, now it is and
they are heavily used, that includes dance halls plus the notorious barber shops, saunas and
since recently spa's . Actually only since about ten years
there is some big investment into the later mentioned.
Nightlife was banned by the communist
during the 195x and it started again in the 198x. What
communists don’t understand is nobody can change the human
nature whether neither
Mao nor his friends Stalin, Hitler, Pol
Pot and Pinochet. They all went down the drain sooner or
later, but the night business survived and communist where busted since
communism is inhuman and has no chance to survive in a
evolution driven society.

It took a physical shorty but
intellectual and tactical giant to get China on track
for the new age, his name was
Teng Hsiao Ping or
邓小平 or Deng Xiaoping he did the right job and
the results we can see now. There is still plenty of things to
be done, but this is the Giant of the 21. Century, the
workbench of the world and
a great tourist attraction.
One attraction of this is
happening in the
night on the
streets, the restaurants, bars and nightclubs, traditional dance and folklore are done in certain
theaters, that’s also a good options to find some night time
entertainment.

If
you want it quiet, peaceful and romantic visit a
teahouse, actually not all of them are quiet, some function
only as front-end for some hanky-panky business of the
manual type or with full body action. Tourist are plenty, lets have some fun, check the prices
first ! The
night is not much different to other cities with a high amount of
Chinese
population. It's been there since hundred of years in different disguise and got more
a negative attribute with the influence of philosophies such
as Christianity and Islam ? The
Buddhism was always more
directed to reality taking this just as a normal part of
living, the others mentioned do not share this few. But what
do we care about some people from the dessert and the so
called "levante",
Buddhism is culture, the
others are repressions

What about
wan in
Mandarin,
indicating night fun by any means together with western music, actually
today western
Hip Hop and Rock is dominating
together with local songs naturally.

Where
to go at night in Shanghai?
, ...he look
here I have lots of money.. how to show the
people you have plenty of money ? ok, use it,
buy a Ferrari and a great house or apartment and
spend it in a lavish club with
some pretty ones they like it, you like so
what could be better. Some additional spice is
added by foreign tourists and business people
who usually have a good expenses account to be
used for pleasure and girls pleasure is never
far, just have a look in any bigger hotel bar
you will find at least a dozen "butterfly" of
the night.
More nightlife
tells other subjects about the city, what was
and is going on.
Here is a brief guide
to know
what's going on in a quick way.
Night activities with
senior citizen dances are
nothing special to the city, just have a
look in any tradition Chinese society and
you can see the same. Very recent fun of
this type you can see at
Georgetown Malaysia, there are
food courts
with music and open air dancing just similar
to the dance hall, but without the ceiling, its
only the open air dance floor.. This is
nothing special to older urban residents for
some nostalgic behavior its just here and
not forgotten, because the people like it. |
